Divided We Fall Sept 16 6pm
APANO has worked closely over the years with the Center for Intercultural Organizing (CIO). We encourage our members and friends to attend a screening of the movie “Divided We Fall” by Muna Mohamad this Tuesday Sept 16, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The movie event will be held at CIO’s beautiful new space in North Portland – 700 N Killingsworth, across from PCC Cascade, and just a block from APANO’s new office in the PACCO Building. CIO and APANO recently worked together on a No on 58 Statement.
Divided We Fall: Americans in the Aftermath is a powerful feature-length documentary on the hate violence in the aftermath of 9/11. Please join us for a screening an discussion about the continuing effect of the War on Terror in our communities seven yeras after the tragic event in 2001.
The film will be introduced by Muna Mohamud, a human rights activist and a leader in the immigrant and refugee rights movement. Muna will also facilitate the discussion that will follow the screening.
THE MOVIE
Driven to action by the murder of a turbaned man in her community, a college student drives across America in the aftermath of 9/11 to discover stories that did not make the evening news. Five years in the making, Divided We Fall deftly explores race, religion, and identity in times of national crisis.
When: Tuesday, September 16th at 6:00 p.m.
Where: CIO’s New Office – 700 N. Killingsworth Street
The screening is free and open to the public, with a suggested donation of $5.
