Host a Party with APANO!

APANO is focused on increasing the voter registration and voting of API’s in Oregon. APIs lag behind Whites, Latinos and Blacks in casting ballots, and many are not registered to vote. APANO is also studying and publicizing the impact of the Ballot Measures on APIs, and will publish statements on our website, www.apano.org, and distribute at events. We will also be organizing dozens of Ballot Parties!
A “Ballot Party” is a social event of 5+ people with a short voter education program. We are asking volunteers like yourself, people within the API community who have an interest in strengthening API leadership and civil rights, to host a group of your friends and family between Oct 15 and Nov 1, 2008. The Ballot Party will be a time of deepening connections between your API friends and allies, and learning about the Oregon Ballot Measures. Your ballot party will help the API community take a step toward raising awareness among API voters, and help increase API voter turnout. Ballot Party Hosts will receive a free orientation from APANO, voter education materials, and support including a small cash grant for food and an APANO Board or Staff guest speaker if requested.
Ballot Party Hosts are expected to make personal invitations to their contacts, through friends, work, school and family. Please join APANO in hosting a Ballot Party for the Nov 4, 2008 General Elections. You may sign up on our website, www.apano.org, by calling 503-896-7560, or by emailing organizer@apano.org.
Ballot Party Hosts are invited to an orientation in early October.
