APANO is in a time of transformation.  In 2008, APANO was energized by the successful API Vote Oregon Campaign that raised the Asian/Pacific Islander voice through non-partisan voter registration, education and mobilization.  We connected or contacted over 2,000 API’s.  As we are set to enter a new year, we are calling API leaders and activists from communities and colleges together for a weekend organizational retreat to set our vision and goals for 2009.

APANO continues forward as an all-volunteer membership based organization with an elected Board of Directors.  We have been issue driven, working on educational equity and culturally specific social service policy and funding, in addition to our civic engagement work.  We are pan-Asian, intergenerational, and grounded in a dynamic social justice analysis.

The Statewide APANO Retreat will be facilitated and focused on establishing internal relationships and prioritizing issue areas to work on in 2009.  The retreatis open to both current and prospective members of APANO.
