Statewide Retreat Jan 23-24, Mt Angel OR
  • Who is a part of our Pan-Asian/Pacific Islander advocacy network?
  • What ideas do you have for APANO over the next 3 years?
  • Why build a strong API voice for social justice in Oregon?
Join us Friday Jan 23 6:30 PM through Saturday Jan 24 5:00 PM at the Shalom Center in Mt Angel Oregon for our 2009 APANO Statewide Retreat.  We will have a community potluck on Friday night and intentional time to meet and get to know one another.  Saturday we will have a day long facilitated program guiding us to identify the issues in our communities, what APANO’s priorities will be, and elect new leadership.

APANO has received a small grant to expand our grassroots, and we will be hosting 12 API Listening Circles this Spring.  We’ll also be exploring other funding, and your participation at the retreat will help shape these efforts.  Your presence, your support, your involvement is needed and we thank you!

Cost is sliding scale, free to $50.  Childcare, carpool, overnight housing, and meals on Saturday are all provided.  Register online at www.apano.org or contact Joseph Santos-Lyons at 503-896-7560 orjsantoslyons@apano.org

Thanks Justin, Roselle and Makerusa!

We said good bye to our field organizer interns Makerusa Porotesano, Justin Takaha White and Roselle Deleon who were with us for the API VOTE Oregon Campaign in 2008.  Each of them were instrumental in the success of our non-partisan election outreach and civic engagement with the API Community.  Justin was responsible for the bulk of our graphic design work.  Roselle worked closely with the Filipino and student communities.  Makerusa brought in Pacific Islanders.  All of them worked voter registration, hosted ballot parties, and coordinated get out the vote phone banks.  A big thank you to all three, we could not have done this without you!  Pam Phan and Aimee Santos-Lyons, who helped envision and provide support to the campaign facilitated a debrief where we discussed learnings and challenges.  It was a positive end to a successful campaign, topped off with Karaoke!
