Lanea is an advocate and lifelong learner of creating an equitable world for all, which is why she continues her education at PSU majoring in Social Work with a minor in International & Global Studies. Her cultural identity stems from Japanese, Okinawan, and Swedish lineages, recognizing the complexities and conflicts of her mixed background. Raised in a bountiful multigenerational family, she values the practice of community care and lifelong connections.
Since moving to Portland in 2016, she has been actively engaged in learning about the community and the barriers marginalized folks face in the whitest city in the nation. She is passionate about social justice and reshaping the success of oppressed communities through their collective knowledge and strengths. In addition to her work at APANO, she also enjoys coffee, photography, and being by the ocean.
