Shweta was born and raised in New Delhi, India and moved to the US to pursue her doctorate in 2005. She cut her teeth in social justice movements for Palestine, nuclear disarmament and actions against US imperialist wars in Afghanistan while in India. She considers it her life’s work to fight for social justice wherever life, immigration, and capitalism will place her. In that vein, she serves as Research Director at the Coalition of Communities of Color, a community organizer with Asians for Black Lives Matter PDX, and a member of the Metro government’s Committee on Racial Equity. She loves relaxing by video-chatting with her community in different parts of the world, force-cuddling her dog, Mellow Dorai whenever she gets to see him, and laughing to radical social justice stand-up comics such as Hari Kondabolu and Aamer Rehman.
