Toeutu Faaleava is a Samoan community leader who has served as Director of the McNair Scholars Program at Portland State University since 2001.  He specializes in community capacity building and mobilziation, with research interests around reclaiming indigenous voices, spaces, scholarship and resistance.  “I believe in collaboration, sharing issues, sharing concerns, and that we can achieve a lot more working together.  We need to recognize that we all struggle together and we can create better results for our communities if we work together.”
