Position Title: Census Field Organizer
Reports To: Census Equity Manager
Duration: March through July, with potential opportunities for continued work
Hours: Up to 32 hours per week per week on average
Compensation: $17 per hour. This position requires nights and weekend work hours.

Consideration of candidates will begin immediately after posting and continue until the position is filled. 

Position Description:

The Census field organizer will be a member of the broader Census Field Team at APANO and work closely with  the #WeCountOregon campaign. The campaign is a community-led, coordinated statewide campaign focused on engaging Oregon’s hard-to-count communities: people of color, immigrants, rural people, children under 5, and renters. #WeCountOregon is working to ensure that the census is equitable, fair, and just and that every Oregonian is counted in the 2020 US Census.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Creating and building relationships with community members through phone and text outreach and door knocking to increase census completion
  • Work closely with Census Equity Manager and staff to expand community outreach and contact
  • Assist with training or education sessions on Census 101
  • Input and manage data and maintain an accurate internal database
  • Assist in the census assistant centers as needed
