Last month we had over 40 APANO members and friends join us for our new monthly meeting on the 2nd Thursday from 5:30-8:30pm at Harrison Park Elementary in Southeast Portland. Diana Pei Wu our Director of Organizing facilitated a group session gathering ideas for how we want to spend our community time together. Here are a few highlights (and send your own ideas to firstname.lastname@example.org):
- Immigrant Rights and the Oregon Safe Roads (Drivers Card) Ballot Measure
- Gender & Reproductive Justice workshop
- Policy Forum to inform APANO’s 2015 Legislative priorities
- Know Your Rights workshop
We invite you to save your 2nd Thursdays each month to connect and engage with Asian & Pacific Islanders. It is the regular place for our members, friends and volunteers to gather. Our monthly meeting includes a community dinner at 5:30pm, with a joint program from 6-7pm. Our working groups meet after, and there is also an Intro to APANO workshop for newcomers. We close with a short group activity by 8:30pm.
